Backstory
I spent a total of 12 years in Scouting Programs. I started as a Cub Scout in 1st grade and completed the program in 5th grade. After moving to Boy Scouts, I spent 7 years participating in numerous troop activites. I earned my Eagle Scout in 2021 and continued to attend meetings and events until I aged out in 2024.
Experiences & Advancement
During my 7 years in Boy Scouts I earned numerous awards and merit badges as well as participated in troop activites. My main achievement is of course earning my Eagle Scout. I had to perform several years of leadership within the truth, complete a public service project, and earn 21 merit badges. I continued to earn merit badges even after getting Eagle, getting to a total of 38. I also achieved 3 Eagle Palms, did 4 weeklong summer camps, and camped for 69 nights total. My favorite trip is by far biking 20 miles of the Virginia Creeper Trail, an excursion my trip did yearly.
Leadership
While in Scout Troop 732, I held several leadership positions including:
- Patrol Leader: 2018 & 2921
- Quartermaster: 2019-2020
- Assistant Senior Patrol Leader: 2021-2022
- Junior Assistant Scoutmaster: 2022-2023
I also attended National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) in the winter of 2021.
All of these experiences and positions taught me a great deal about leadership. NYLT taught me a lot of the theory of leadership with topics like servant leadership. My time as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster let me put these learned skills to use to help lead and advise the troop.
